THE BEST AIR FRYER GRILLED CHEESE SANDWICH

Ingredients (Makes 4 sandwiches)

  • 8 slices thick-cut bread (Texas toast, sourdough, or white bread)
  • 4 tablespoons softened butter
  • 8 slices cheddar cheese
  • 4 slices mozzarella, provolone, or Monterey Jack cheese
  • Optional: pinch of garlic powder or Italian seasoning

Instructions

  1. Preheat your air fryer to 370°F (188°C) for 3–5 minutes.
  2. Butter the bread
    • Spread softened butter on one side of each bread slice.
    • For extra flavor, sprinkle a little garlic powder on the buttered side.
  3. Assemble the sandwiches
    • Place cheese between two slices of bread with the buttered sides facing outward.
    • Use a mix of cheeses for the best melt and flavor.
  4. Air fry
    • Place sandwiches in the air fryer basket in a single layer.
    • Cook at 370°F (188°C) for 4–5 minutes.
    • Carefully flip and cook another 3–4 minutes, or until golden brown and crispy.
  5. Serve
    • Let rest for 1 minute before slicing.
    • Serve with tomato soup, pickles, or a side salad.

Tips

  • If the bread is lightweight, secure it with toothpicks for the first few minutes of cooking.
  • Add cooked bacon, ham, or sliced tomatoes for a heartier sandwich.
  • For extra gooey grilled cheese, use a combination of cheddar and mozzarella.
